Angry Front Bumper Cost

I am so fing pissed right now...anyone know what a front bumper will cost me for my truck?!?

I was going up the offramp with snow on the ground and decided I better shift to 4wd...didn't feel ANY lost of traffic. Came to the stop side and SLOWLY applied the brakes...did not stop and hit the guard rail, MOTHER *#&$^ #*&(*@*&!

Bumper pushed in and my NEW BRUSH GUARD is shot...insurance won't pay for the guard. I have a 250 deductible but I can't see the bumper costing me that much and I replace it myself for the labor.

Any help would be great.

Speaking from personal experience, a front bumper will cost you more than $250 if you go with local parts, even doing your own labor (which is exactly what I did).

If you can wait, I'd suggest trying to order CertiFit for the parts.

Assuming you don't need new bumper brackets (inner or outer)...

Main Bumper Piece (Chrome): $115.50
Upper Cover Piece (Black): $28.75
Lower Cover Piece (Gray): $26.75

Some things you might be able to salvage and reuse, but if you have to buy new...
Fog Light "Sight Shield" Hole: $12.95
Fog Light "Sight Shield" Hole: $12.95
Front Air Dam (without tow hook holes): $44.75

If the bumper brackets need replaced...
Inner Bracket L: $8.95
Inner Bracket R: $8.95
Outer Bracket L: $6.95
Outer Bracket R: $6.95

I don't believe any of those costs include S&H.

Those were all prices from CertiFit's Minnesota catalog (thanks goes to Viper for the tip, BTW). I ended up being able to reuse my fog light sight shields and front air dam, and my brackets didn't need to be replaced. Ended up probably spending $300 to get the same parts aftermarket locally because I wanted the truck fixed before I went back to work in two days.

I did do all the work myself though. Its not to hard at all, just takes time. Counting various short trips to ACE Hardware for various bolts and things, I ended up probably spending less than six hours on the whole thing.

Unless it is stated on the policy, companies will only cover stock parts. Such as brush gaurds, tires, roll bars. But usually if you tell a company that you have a brush gaurd they will chargwe you more for insurance since it will do more damage if you cause an accident. Kinda a catch-22.

I know this because when I put insurance on my JEEP (see AMC) they asked about it and oversized tires.

eeek.. That happens alot here, don't take this wrong, but I go nuts watching people with 4 wheel drive driving like it's dry, because they have the 4 wheel on.. 4 wheel drive doesn't improve your traction in snow and ice... it is great to climb a rock, but that's it.. in snow, 2wd or 4wd, we are all equal..

I was going less than 10 mphs...I applied the brakes slowly and nada didn't stop.

First time EVER I've damaged a vehicle because of snow or ice...even left work early to avoid the blunt part. Less than a mile down the road all clear...same elevation.

Thank you for the price quotes thus far. The bumper looks fine, well except the dent in it now. The brush guard is a total lost...3 months old and gone.

$300 new brush guard...$300 new bumper...hmmm...

Hey does anyone know if I get my insurance company to repair it that I can just take the money (minus the deductible) that a shop quotes me? So lets say a shop says $800 to do.

Will they cut me a check for $550? Just weighing my options.
