Default Questions about OBDII sensor

I've trying to see where this thing is located on my vehicle i have a 96 dodge ram 4x4 single cab and also if i where to take my cat off the truck or gut it out would that happen to through and codes cause from what i can see on the truck right now when i start it the check engine light doesnt come on with all the other waring lights and all that. Just wanted to know also if anyone has gutted the cat on their truck like this and if so what is the easiest and quickest way to do it. Any help or advice would be greately appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by sensor. the port in under the dash near the 4x4 shifter. By removing or cutting your cat you could have the CEL come on. It should come on i think when you turn the key on then go off after starting. I haven't driven mine in months so I might be wrong

It might come on it might not. Some people report it going off, others don't, after gutting their cat.

My personal take is that cats have a point, and that you shouldn't remove them completely. Replace with a performance one, sure. But to each their own I suppose.

If the CEL does not go on momentarily with all the other lites when you first start your truck, then I'd say the bulb is burned out.
