Yeah, it might come with 2 pads, open it and find out what it comes with. The stuff I use is expensive but 3M & Meguires has reasonably priced products on the shelf at stores besides the professional grade compounds. Experiment with each cloth the buffer has though, that will help you get familiar with the different abrasive properties of each fabric used, such as cotton compared to a wool etc. Have fun & be patient.
