Angry 4wd not working!!

I got a ton of snow today and come to find out my 4wd doesnt work. The front driveshaft spins in 4 high but the front tires dont spin. I dont understand why. Also the 4wd indicator light went out a while back but I just thought a bulb went.

welcome to df.
i wish i had a $1 for every time i've posted these 2 links.

if the front driveshaft is turning, then its either the vac switch on top of the t-case, or a vac line anywhere along the way between engine and CAD, or the CAD itself. the light is controlled by a contact switch on the end of the CAD, which is depressed when the shift fork ACTUALLY slides over and engages the axle. the switch and/or wiring can be easily damaged. the light bulb in the dash almost never goes out.

test for vacuum first. you should have vac on 1 line at the cad in 2wd and vac on the other in 4wd. solve any vac problem first. if that doesn't fix it, then remove the cad and clean it up. put the truck up on 4 jack stands for safe testing.
