Default Tires for 17" wheels?

I have a 2001 Ram, off road, sport, 4x4. It came factory with 17" wheels with Goodyear GSA's on it. The tires are wore out and I am needing a new set. I don't want to go back with Goodyears, but the only other option that I can find is Cooper that I can't get around here until 4 weeks, (backorder). The size is 275/70/17, I am having a hard time finding this size. Surely there are more brands out there that has this size. Can someone help me out on where to find tires this size? Thanks!

Try a 285/70r17. It's slightly taller, but not by much, and it'll fit your truck. This is why I don't like oddball sized wheels.

I have the same truck & mine has BF Goodrich Rugged-Trail T/As on it. They seem pretty decent, all around. Pretty sure they're 285s.

I can find plenty of tires smaller than 275's, but I am having a hard time finding any larger than 275's. I'll check out the BFG's.

I have BFG Mud Terrains on my truck and like them a lot although mine are a lot bigger than the ones you would need but I looked and they do have them in 285/70R17. If you don't want mud tires I would look at BFG All Terrains.

Try www.4wheelparts.com, they have BFG's mud and all-terrain in 275 and 285/70R17. Or it may be one or the other. I know they have both sizes though. I have the same set up as you. I looked in to replaceing the goodyears, But it ts hard to find stuff with a 17" size. Don't know if your interested but, according to some of the threads on here you can go up to 33x12.5R17 wit no rubbing. I would ask first because I am not 100% sure.

www.tirerack.com allows you to search by tire size and then it will show you all brands available in that size. Do not plug in your vehicle type, just search by tire size. Click on "Specs" after you get that and you will see ratings from owners, diameter, tread width, etc. I hope you find something from either Cooper or Goodyear. I believe they are the only remaining American companies.
