Default Is it the vaccum actuator????

2000 Ram 4X4
I've got an odd noise coming from the front axle while in 4WD and only when it cold and snowy. I don't here it when its warm out. I just replaced the bearings and u joints so i don't think they are the culprit. I've heard that the vaccum actuator can foul up when its cold. Anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Its hard to describe really. Its not a noise I would expect to hear from the drive train. It doesn't start until 25mph and its not a constant noise....more intermitant. I guess I would describe it as more of a squeaking/grinding noise than a ticking noise.

The squeaking and grinding noise is usually what happens before the ticking or clicking as far as the axle u joint goes.I just replaced both of mine last summer and the driver side is all done already. Put it in 4 wheel drive and make sure it's locked in, take a jack and raise one wheel off the ground. Grab the tire and rotate it forward and back while you look at the joint and the front drive shaft. Repeat for opposite side.
