Default Does the coolant need to be drained when dropping the tranny?

I'm just curious because I got my truck back from the shop after a rebuild today, and it stinks like coolant. If they do then that would explain it. If not, then either I have another leak or I didn't get it all rinsed off when I replaced the radiator a few weeks ago...

Thanks

No you do not have to drain the coolant to do the tranny.

No coolant draining required to R&R a transmission.

Might check the weep hole on the water pump first.
