Default Front U Joints

Haveing to replace front u joints 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 4x4 Iam not haveing any luck at all geting wheel bearing nut off tryed soaking it with powerblaster tryed impact wrench; breaker bar no luck.If any of you guys have any tricks i would really be greatful. I will be on line for awhile longer. Thanks Greatsite

first did you take the brake caliper and bracket off?
i had to do that on my 95, theres three bolts on the back that bolt the hub to the spindle. you should be able to pull the hole axle out with the hub bearing it. it might be hard to get off there.

Yeah its hard. I had to replace the driver's side on my 95 last week. Soaked it really good, and left those 12 point bolts threaded in loosely. Had to whack them with a hammer for about 30minutes to get the whole thing to pop out.

Make sure you take all 3 of the 12pt bolts out of the back, then make sure to remove the cotter pin out of the center (I have seen guys forget this step), then I use a good (warranty) 3/4 in drive 24 inch breaker bar (may have to use and extension and a jack stand and stand on the end or use some sort of wrench or pipe as a breaker extension). Once that is done you will still probably have to beat on it for a while. I have a thread talking about my experience with this pain in the butt on my 01.
