sorry but need help with a chevy
Well my friend calls me up and tells me he broke down and about 25miles for home and sence i do all the repair work to his truck i am the only one he trust looking at his truck. I go out there and the truck start but really like **** like the timing way out. I put new cap, rotor, wire, and plugs about a year ago. I pull the cap off and what happen was the rotor broke and then broke the cap and then broke the side of the distributor. After pull him back to my house i had all new stuff sent to my house waiting for me to get there. I got the distributor in and new cap and rotor in. Fired it up and runs great but i want to make sure the timing is perfict. So i never had to use a timing light befor so i need a quick lisson. The truck is a 96 chevy 1500 4x4 5.0.
Thanks
Thanks
Place timing light clamp on #1 sparkplug wire, find the timing pointer near the crank dampener, aim light towards toward point(while truck is running)
Everytime the light flashes look to see which number is coming up everytime, and adjust the distibutor accordingly
Make sure the truck is at a low idle while using the timing light

I dont know what you set it at, maybe you can look it up on the net
But yeah. i believe there is a vaccum line that goes to the distributor that you have to disconnect and plug
It maybe electronic Idk, im used to working on older engines
