Hey i have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 2wd and i was wondering if i could take a 2004 5.7 hemi and put it in my truck? I have been told that the 5.7 will bolt right in with my auto transmission need other opinion thanks.

welcome to df. i don't really know, but i'd think you'd encounter a lot of computer and wiring problems. i'd imagine that the 04 engine would require a matching computer, but then the 04 transmission is probably different from your 98. i don't think it would be worth all the hassle. better to either trade up to a 3rd gen, or work with the block and trans that comes in the 98

Every transmission guy I have ever talked to on this topic to date has said that the transmission will not bolt up and that you'd need the transmission out of the 2004. Like the others said, lots of cash needed.
