Unhappy Hello 1997 Dually V10

I went to start my Dodge 3500, the lights came on as i entered the cab and the buzz sound when i put in the key, i started it and it went zzzzpptt...

Now there are no lights when i open the door or buzz sound when i put the key in.

I get 12.30 volts at the battery terminal but no life what so ever with the truck. Any ideas?

Thanks

Tighten connections. Shows voltage, but loose connection will not carry the current.

Automatic Shut Down. Chrysler may call it something else now, I worked for a dealership in the late 80's through the mid 90's. There should be a row of relays that are well labeled on the inside of the cover. One of these relays powers the ignition system, fuel pump relay, ignition coil, etc. The dodge I found it on most recently was showing 3 volts at the coil during cranking. I swapped the relay for the horn relay, same mopar p/n, and it started right up.
Sorry so long for a response. Sounds like you have it under control.

1st, before you do anything test the voltage again but this time test it from the battery post to the other battery post then from the terminal on the battery post to the other terminal. Corrosion can build up around the posts and inside the the terminals, even if they're tight. You should show about 12.5 volts at the posts. If it's less at the terminals then they need a good cleaning. Try removing the terminals from the posts and scraping the inside of each terminal to clean lead then wire brush the posts real good til you see clean lead and reinstall.
