dmcpher, just going through the same problem with my 99 5.9. It was # 6 cyl for me but...both heads were cracked also, between int/ex seats # 7&8. Heads up...no pun intended.

Why does it matter? All around Oklahoma, tire shops will repair flats for free (meaning patching the tire).

Meanwhile, it sounds like a good time for the OP to either do a top-end of complete overhaul of the engine.
