Default Trailer wiring

I have a '98 1500 quadcab 4x4 and I am planning on using it to pull a camper I am purchasing. My truck did not come with the towing package and I don't have the big trailer plug for the lights and brakes. I need to add the brake controller and was wondering if the harness is under the dash to plug it in to and is there a wire for the brakes already run to the back? Thanks

Nope, not to my knowledge. You have to hardwire everything and run a lead to the back.

You might want to check with your friendly Dodge Dealer. I had a 99 4x4 SLT Sport with a towing package installed on it. I know they have a factory wiring harness that clips under the dash for the brake controller.

As for the 7-pin out the back I think you need to wire to it.
