My son has a 98 ram I belive he hooked the jumper cables up backwards
while trying to jump start it ,we did get it stated and replaced several
fuses,only 2 problems left battery does not seem to charge (put new battery in after cables hooked backwards) I assume the alt. is fried
and will have to be replaced (not to tuff).But the other ploblem is the 25amp fuse for the wipers keeps blowing as soon as I turn the key foward
with the wiper multiswitch turned off.Could this be a fried multiswitch or
somthing with the ignition switch or wiper motor.The truck starts and runs fine turn singnals and high and low beams work so I don't know if it could be the multi switch.Any help would be very much apperciated!!!

There is a wiper relay in the power distribution center that could be the problem. Remove it and see what happens.

I did this once on my JEEP and ended up frying a starter, a battery, and melting a set of Cables to a friends truck, he wernt to happy about that.

 

I gather the same conclusion. Just a know it all 13yr old.

 

First of all, jumper cables have to be connected properly:

Source vehicle:
Red - Positive Post
Black - Negative Post

Jumped Vehicle:
Red - Positive Post
Black - GROUND (ie. an engine bolt, chassis, etc) NEVER DIRECTLY CONNECT THE BATTERIES

People also believe this notion that cables are to be connected Positive to Negative, Negative to Positive. Again, THIS IS INCORRECT.

 

This is actually a pretty good tip regarding the ground connection on the jumped vehicle. You risk an explosion connecting directly to the battery (although i have never actually seen it happen, its better to play it safe).
