haha, alright so i test drove a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 sport edition with 105,000 on the dash and a 360ci motor. it seemed to wander a bit when driving in normal conditions, the dealer is a really good guy and swears its the tires, but from what i hear this "wandering" or "loose feel" is quite common inmost rams. could someone explain it to me?

Tell the "really good guy" dealer to fix it before you'll even think of buying it. Then read the rest of the things to look out for and have him fix those as well. Then you can discuss price and how much you will be willing to pay!

Track bar, steering box, tie rods, ball joints, hub/bearings, steering shaft, steering stabilizer, control arm bushings, etc. Also do a search for plenum gasket and transmission issues.

your "real good guy" is a worthless sack of lying ****. tires don't cause wander. worn out expensive front end parts do.

now that we got that out of the way, worn out front ends on these trucks are common. as are transmission problems. look up 01 on kbb.com, private party, NOT retail, it'll list for about $4800-5000. that assumes it has normal not so obvious problems and NO transmission problems, and NO cracked dash. don't overpay to your good guy, he'll probably tell you he wants about $8000.
