2 bolt main or 4
Dose anyone know if these truck have a 2 bolt main or 4. I don"t want to blow my motor up i"m not going to go performance nut but it would be nice to know. I have an 01 1500 4x4 5.9l V8.
"Blow it up"? OK, whatever that means. These aren't Chevy engines. They can handle performance upgrades
2 bolt mains dont get enough credit. unless your stuffing 30psi of boost down its neck, and spinning it to 7500rpm, you wont make enough power to have a catastrophic failure due to the mains. you'll be fine... mod away, lol
well i was talking to my dad about getting roller rockers and he was like get cam other wise there not worth ****. A new cam would cost a tong to get put in the block. Thats one of the things that i will never do. Anyone ever get one put in.
cams in these trucks can get tricky. with the rad, coolers and condenser, then you have the aluminum timing cover not to mention the truck is 4 feet high over the fender. the rockers will be fine, they will give the same effect as a cam with higher lift. I havent looked alot, but every cam i have seen so far requires aftermarket springs, so theres more work. i think youll do fine with the rockers.

yea i might as well get a new stroker for all that work lol would be nice i have been on summit web sit and was looking and all this http://store.summitracing.com/checkout/cart.asp
Most I know that have lost a motor was from the block splitting in half from too high an rpm. Buddy hit 458rwhp na on a Mustang dyno(495rwhp approx on dynojet) and had been taking it to 7k rpms. With solid lifters he wasnt useing the piece in that holds the lifter yokes. Think without the bolts in the dead center of the valley it may have help cause it to split down the middle. Seen others with cast stroker cranks that may have speed wobbled from too much stress, pounded the pistons to nothing and put windows in the block but the mains hung in there.
