Today I put new speakers in my 01 Ram 1500. It was only about 6 degrees out today and I only tried putting back on my panels for about 10mins. Once I couldn't get them, I gave up. So, what is the best way to put these panels back on?

I was maybe thinking of taking out like two clips on each side and putting them in the panel then trying to push the clips back in the door? I really have no idea about putting these back on.

yea thats what you do replace all the clips on the door panel and just push the whole panel back onto the door.

thats what i did when i tinted my windows. i put the clips on the door and tryed to line them up and pushed it back on.

there should be about 8 or 10 clips in each side. if they are still stuck in the door, pull them out, and seat the heads in the slots of the panel. hang the lip over the top, line em up, and smack each one back into the door.

if the yellow clip is too screwed up to hold tight in the door, you can buy new ones for not much money.

I matched mine up at napa (from the yellow ones) The ones I got were white with the same head design, just slightly longer than the yellow ones. figured extra length can never hurt Have fun!

Yea that is the biggest pain in the *#$ went through the same thing...had to replace almost all of them and most of them got stuck in the door! God that was pain pain pain!

Well I don't know if your panels are the same as mine but I've got a Dodge Ram 1500 Sport from 2001 5.2L Engine.

I found it easier to take off the handle should be a 10 metric.

And obviously it is easier done by some people, but making sure all yellow rivet things are lined up on the panel first (it only takes one or two to screw you up).

I went started at the bottom first and worked middle to outside as I went up the panel. I was lucky enough to only do it once, but from what I've heard, trying to fight the door handle makes it 10x harder. So hopefully you can take yours off!!!

I didn't have to tool to remove the door panels when I did mine. I used a skinny putty knife wrapped in electrical tape (so I didn't scratch the paint. Line it up, and one wack with a hammer does the trick. I figured those clips wouldn't cost too much. Turns out dodge wanted 6.35ea for those yellow clips and I laughed in there face (as well as they laughed at mine when I told them how many I needed lol). Thats why I went to napa like I previously said. Actually im surprised your having that much difficulty with putting the pannel on. If I remember right the door panel basically hangs on to the lip right by the window. Then It was as easy as looking between the pannel and the door and lining them up. Once you have them in place just take the palm of your hand and start in one spot and work your way around. I did it in small increments so I know all the clips were started, then worked my way back around again till it was flush agains the door. Hope that helps at least a little.

Get one of these for next, or do what PCFIXER said. Because if you break the ears on the panel that hold the clips to it, you'll be screwed.

Thanks for all the replies, last night I found out a pry bar works great for getting out those tabs. Getting those panels back on were easier than I thought.


I'm thinking of replacing the speakers in my truck now (extended cab), what size are those ones?
