great thanks alot for the information.

Yes, I got the truck for $3000 including the 1 year old western plow with unimount.

So overwall it was a good deal, but i ended up buying a number of things before I could even plow in the winter.

Tires $800 new
Plow service $440 + rear scarpper blade
oil change, tranny fluid change + fixing a leaking pan with a hold the size of a lug bolt.

It seems that I am better of buying a 2500 from the advice im hearing. Maybe even keeping this one as a 2nd back up truck with a little to a lot of work.

SnowPloughing is the term Canadians use =P either that or Snow Removal.

Thanks

there's nothing wrong with plowing with a 1500.. actually.. it can fit into some tight spaces that these big long bed quad cab diesels can't! Just get some spring off a 2500 (junk yard is the cheapest) and you'll be fine!.. but it all depends on how you plow... I've seen 2500's beat to crap after one season because the drivers thought they could plow anything at any speed... just remember if your truck dies... so does your business

yeh, i really like my 1500 to tell you the truth. Its my first work truck and it has a sentimental value to it. It has a 8ft box right now thats really banged up at the back and not worth to fix. Thinking of swaping it out for a 6 1/2 ft box.

Im just using it for residential homes about 50 of them a year. I dont see the need for a 2500 right now, mostly because of the cost.

This is what i want to do to it :

Engine Rebuild or swap ($1800 for rebuild $2800 for re & re ) still dont know what the advantage of re and re is?............
Tranny Rebuild $900
Springs $290 each says the dealer.
Brakes, rear and front (couple of hundered)
Rustproofing max $500 should just paint the whole car with bed liner spray lol
6 1/2 foot box $1000,00 or less
Change hood and doors (holes cause of rust) Under $500

This is still under $5000 and i know it will last me a few years for sure. I dont want to go buying a 2500 and spending another $5000 fixing it.

Oh the blue light YEH LOL its a joke $60 at canadian tire, turns out alot of people got caught driving with it on the main roads this year and ended up eating a $300 ticket from the cops. Most are switching over to the yellow caution lights now.

He ment "volunteer fire fighter". The thing is Max, blue lights don't always signify firefighters. In other states cop's use blue lights (ask jinx). Looks like escme might be from canada so the blue light might have an entirely different meaning. For example we use amber when plowing usually, so the blue might be its equivilent in canada. Just a guess, as he didn't know why his friend got a ticket.
