Thermostat Replacement
Oh that tab is defiantly coming off before it goes back on. I got the hypertech because everybody talked about the 180's. When I ordered my Hughes stuff i figured I'd get one and throw it in there. I assume the one that was in there was stock. I was stuck in there I had to beat and pry it out.
There's a lot of old threads by former members about the Hyperstat's failing a little too frequently. IDK if the quality has improved in the past few years. My guess is that Hypertech probably has another manufacturer make them.
If your t-stat is getting "eaten up" I'd suggest checking your cooling system for electrolysis. Mopar actually makes a tablet that looks kind of like a stone marshmellow that you can pulverize and put into the rad. The electrolysis attacks the tablet particles rather than the parts of the cooling system.

No it does heat up the cab, the thing is when i first installed it my guage was just above the 130 mark on the temp. guage. Now its right back where it used to be with my 195 stat. When i first installed it yeah, i wasnt getting any heat that i couldnt defrost my winshield, wich i was fine with cuz i knew it was working. Now i have great heat but i feels like the t-stat was never replaced. Also ive been dealing with a pinging issue with the SCT tune and im wondering if its cuz of whats going on with the t-stat. Cuz i need the t-stat to work with the tune.
That sounds like it isn't working right. Maybe upside down? No offense, the first 180 I had was installed during the plenum kit at a shop and they put the stat in upside down. Darn thing worked great stopped right about 180, made a big difference in power too. After it finally conked out, the new shop put in a Stant 180 the correct way and it wouldn't seem to warm up at all. Actually, we tried two and same thing. Apparently it's supposed to take longer as it opens sooner but once everything heats up, it sits at 180 pretty good and sometimes lower. You should see it about half way between the 130 mark and 210. The stock 195 stat sits about two-thirds between 130 and 210. Maybe the old one was already 180?
yeah i am seeing it half way between 180 and 210, but i put this one in myself and its not upside down. Matched it up perfectly with the stock one. But ive just noticed that sometimes the guage will go to almost touching 210 then drop to between 130 and 210 and never move. Im thinking of getting another t-stat, the one i have is a JET and i really dont know what kind of rep they have. So ill prolly get one with good background.
That could be the problem. Try a Stant. Mine goes to 180 then opens and backs down to about 170 when the heater's on. Once she runs a while, it stays right there half way between. It's never gone higher than that, runs real cool in the summer too in 100 deg with the ac on.
Should be. Or any parts store. They are the 'brand name' in stats. Yellow package with red "STANT" at the top. They also make gas caps, radiator caps, etc. Good stuff. http://www.stant.com/
