Default Weird noise

Today I had my truck idling in neutral to check the tranny fluid. While waiting I crawled underneath it to see if I could diagnose the ticking noise (sounds like lifter noise). I then heard what sounded like a fart noise possibly coming from the tranny. If you take this: "ruuuuunt, ruuuuunt" and think of it as a fart on a leather couch...that's what it sounded like. It happened a couple of times...not absolutely sure where it came from, but it sounded like inside the tranny. I have no fluid, shifting, etc., issues...weird. Anyone else experienced this?

I busted out laughing here in the office! I dont think ive ever heard a vehicle noise described as a "fart" noise That was good, thanks i needed that today So are you sure its coming from the tranny? Possibly an exhaust leak somewhere since you said you have a "lifter tick" sound? I had an exhaust gasket go out on me a few months back that made a sound that resembled a "lifter noise" and than i could see an exhaust making a "fart" noise.

Mine got the same noise coming from inside the trans pan, I was told it was a valve but it gets worse when I put in reverse.

My "fart" sounded like from inside the tranny pan, too. My truck was in N, and I've never noticed it before. I'm sure the "fart" noise wasn't from the exhaust, but the exhaust could be the source of the ticking...I still don't know for sure. I think I may go with 10W40 instead of 10W30 next time to see what happens with it.

maybe your tranny fluid needs changed.. it prolly has that warm butter poop consistency.. and you should change it... maybe this will get rid of your fart.. try some refried beans.. that'll clear it out

Could be...it is due pretty soon, but still looks good. It's only been about 11K miles since I serviced it.

I'm guessing this is noise made by moving fluid.. normal.. Ram's gotta fart too?!

I have heard the same fart on a leather couch noise inside my tranny pan before as well (I actually noticed it the last time I had changed the fluid and filter). I was a little worried at first, but that was a while ago and she's still slamming gears just fine... with an occasional fart here and there as well.

Cool, so maybe I should throw in some Beano during my next service. Just wanted to see if anyone else ever heard this... Thanks
