Unhappy abs/brake light

i searched and try every thing that didn't cost money because i'm more sure how to fix it

what ive done

check brake fuild..full
check fuse in dash..good
check fuse under hood.. i don't have one
cleaned the..RWAL sensor (on the rear axle) ***edit,ABS Wheel Speed Sensor****
check the brake switch..looked ok
cleaned sum sensor under the master

also i disconected the battery and light went away for 5sec then was back on.(when started up)

after cleaning the RWAL sensor and having the battery disconected the light didn't come back on for about 20 sec and i was driving.

does everybody have ideas what to do???

i can't find the RWAL on parts stores web sites is it called sum thing esle??

all input is good input..thanks

is your speedo working correctly and consistently, because if it is then your rwal hasnt given out on you yet and you have to find the problem somewhere else.

Ive always called the sensor on top of the rear differential the "speed sensor", but I'm not sure on the technical term. If that goes bad the ABS light will come on, but your speedo wont work either. Maybe its on its way out? Sorry, not much of a help, but good luck anyhow.

Interesting, you must be right though if it still worked even after you disconnected it...maybe just get one from another dodge for the time being, like a junkyard dodge just to test it... or borrow one from a friend who has the same truck just to see if the abs and brake light comes on... if it does still then it probably has something to do with fluids or air in the brake lines somewhere

Found a Vehicle Speed Sensor (as they call it) on Rockauto in case you still couldnt find one.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...parttype=10634

That seems like a decent deal. I think I paid about $40 or so from Autozone a while back (but cant really remember).
