I personally wouldn't have padded it. It would have made it easier to cover. Also i know you said it needs more work. It needs to be pulled way tighter then that.

The box looked amazing I'm just not digging the cover job. It takes a lot of patience to cover a box. Some prior knowledge helps too. I had my dad do mine. I think that after some more time on it you will get it perfect though.

Not trying to be a dick BTW just stating my opinion

I have to agree. The box looked great as I commented twice as you were building it. I probably would have went a different route on the covering though. As long as your happy thats all that counts.

well.. they didn't have the right fabric or foam... I was going to use like 1/4 foam and gray fabric... they didn't have either I've never done this before either (it shows)! lol The sides are as tight as I could get! but the cup holder and top piece need work... I installed it and it's a little tighter than I like... but it works for now... I think I'll get my switches and get everything wired up and then rebuild the box with any changes I might want to make... thanks for the feedback

So... I was bored today and decided to rebuild my console! The first one I made fit like a glove without fabric... the I foamed it and put fabric on and it didn't fit (live and learn)

after driving a few days it was starting to bug me... so I made some improvements and started to rebuild it this afternoon. I got it looking pretty good.. and I made some templates for the side panels out of the old console... tomorrow I will try and get the CB installed and cubby hole made.. but I might put it off til monday due to the SUPERBOWL!!

Can you post pics of the new box? Also what are you using to hold the fabric on?

My dad was in the upholstery business for years he might be able to throw a few hints at ya. He wants o see what your working with first.
