Even if you have a 2 wheel drive or a 4 wheel without a leveling kit, if you look at your oil pan you will see that the back of the pan is considerably lower than the drain plug. I always warm the motor up before I change the oil and let it drain for a few hours. I changed it today again after my RR install, (cuz I'm ****)LOL Anyway , I put my jack under the rearend after I noticed this (and the pan was dripping for like 2 hours). Well, alot more oil came out when I did this. So just a heads up if you want to drain the crap out even more.

 

its always good to warm it up before changing the oil! Most of the oil will drain out within a couple minutes, taking the majority of deposits with it. The tiny drips/ stream can't really remove that much debris because there is no velocity. that being said, thers's nothing wrong with that suggestion, it could only help (and give you peace of mind.) good tip, if you wanna take the time!

yea, just go around the block. it doesn't have to get real hot, just enough to thin the oil out so it drains better.

 

i don't put much faith in engine flushes. first off they are 0 weight "oil" or detergent. If your engine is horribly sludgy then maybe. the better alternative for a real dirty engine or one that hasn't been changed for a long time is to change the oil and filter and run it for a minute, then check the dipstick. if its still dark you can leave the filter on and keep changing out the oil until it lightens up. Once it gets closer to light colored slap a new filter on fill it back up and your done.

 

my dad did it on his car and the oil was thicker and black than normal. i'm going to do it on my truck and event of it helps a little is better than nothing.

 

by "it" do you mean using the engine flush? if so, why would you want your oil thicker and blacker?
