Hi im new to this. I just recently got a 97 dodge 1500 5.2 liter 2wd. When i first got it it would start spitting and sputtering when tryin to hold a constant speed. We literally had to wire the o2 sensors and all has been well. Well now im noticing my gas milage is not as good as it could be. Like 8 mpg. And i dont have a lead foot at all. My check engine light has also been on. If you stomp the gas a huge cloud of grey smoke pours out and literally leaves two marks about 2 feet long of black GUNK. I was told it was unburnt fuel and oil etc. Hooked up to the computer and it said running too lean and gave me a code for bank1 sensor 1. Well everyone who i talked to said it was running to rich.??? I spoke to a guy at auto-zone and he said bc i dont have a cat, its just gonna keep burning o2 sensors. Not really sure what to think or believe. I do know when we pulled out the o2 sensor thats 'before the cat' it was extremelly dirty and black. Dont know what to do.
