Default Transfer case popping out of 4 low???

alright, this is odd...every time i put stress on the transfer case when i'm in 4 low it pops out and goes into neutral. If i'm going up a hill or something like that it pops out. When i put my foot on the lever and push it forward while i'm going up the hill (forcing it to stay it) everything works fine....any ideas???
thanks guys
