Default Brake Problem

I was driving yesterday and it felt like something had dropped. About 10 miles later, my brake locked up. I put it in 4wd to get it moving but it is vibrating a lot. Does anyone know what would have caused this? Let me know. Thanks

ok... 1500, 2500, 3500? disc or drum?, what year?. I have heard of parking brake shoes (2500 and 3500 disk rears) comming dislodged and jamming into the drum and locking the rear. other than that, are you sure that the BRAKE specifically is locking? or is the wheel just hard to turn?

Its a 1996 1500. It was only the front right brake that locked so it had to have been disc. Parking brake is only in the rear right? The wheel is not hard to turn but could wheel bearings make a single wheel lock up? Or possibly a seized caliper?

sounds like time to pull the wheel of and see. I actually had a buddy replace his brakes and forget to tighten the bottom bolt. It backed out and the whole caliper swung out and grinded against the rim when he would back up until it grab'd and locked. Pull that wheel off and see whats up.

The piston could have locked up, the slides might be rusted solid, or the hub bearing might have seized. If it is the caliper, plan on replacing the rotor too. Because now it is warped.
