Default touch up paint

hey, i have a camper shell on my truck, and i am going to take it off in a few days. i bought some touch up paint, because i know that i am going to need it, due to the rubber from the shell wearing on the truck. what i want to know is, what can i do to make the touch up paint, and the existing paint to blend best. the truck is a 98' so the paint should look different from the touch up paint since the trucks existing paint is a bit older, what do you guys suggest i do to get the best results? thanks.

I took my cap off a couple months ago and had the same issue. The only difference was only my clear coat came off in spots. I decided to go with a tonneau cover which covered the rails where the clear coat came off... just a suggestion. Another idea is to coat the bed rails with Herculiner. I did that to one of my Dakota's...looked great and kept the rails from further being scratched up.

98 Dodge Ram QC and I also had to get some touch up paint, only when I applyed the paint it sucked cause the new came out darker and stood out more then the rest of my Truck's paint, I'm really ticked about that... I got my touch up from the dealer and it don't match at all! S_ _ T it looks so bad!

Mine did the same, I just bought a set of Bed Rail Covers. The kind that stick on with double sided tape. Put them on and it looks good again. I got mine on Ebay for about 20 bucks.

Got some touch up paint from Advanced Auto for the little rock chips on the hood and fenders. My Dad owned a Body Shop and I used to watch him touch up little dings like this using a match stim. I tried it and it worked great.

Good luck.

I'm gonna have to try using a match stem or something smaller, cause you sure can see where the difference is on mine...
