Question Ram Sport quad headlights

I have read lots of the threads about converting non-Sport headlights to the Sport quad lights. Let me ask another question:

If a person had a 2001 SLT 1500 (non-Sport) and a 2001 1500 Sport sitting next to each other (both have fog lights) - and simply wanted to switch the headlights between the two - would that be a fairly simple swap? Just a matter of switching certain parts (headlight housings, wiring harnesses, etc.)? Or would it be more complicated than that?

Been reading for a while, but this is my first post. Great forum!

I don't know a hole lot about the swap (as I already have the sport lights) so I cant tell you much about that. But I do know the sport lights have 2 bulbs in each side where as the non sport lights I believe only have one... so it would seam to me that some wiring would have to be completed to make it work, but I don't know for sure.

Boy, that was kinda a useless reply

Yep, you would have to rewire both a little, with some stuff from an auto store (extra set of sockets, for example).

The low beams on the Sport are 9007, so you'd have to rewire those sockets (same socket, wires are arranged differently) to accept 9004 bulbs for non-Sport headlamps. You'd have to add two new sockets to the non-Sport for 9007s, and that means adding a relay or two, as the stock switches in the cab are known to burn up with non-Sport setups, let alone adding another two bulbs.

I guess you could chop off the sockets from the Sport and use them instead of buying a new set from an auto store. More chopping, so if you ever want to go back to stock on the Sport, more wiring later, but thats up to you.

You'd also have to drill some holes or some sort of similar modification, as the non-Sport doesn't have holes in its frame/radiator supports/or whatever those things are to fit the inner pair of bulbs.

Thanks for the responses, gents. olyelr, I appreciate the comeback, even if you thought it was useless!

Wow, I thought it would be fairly simple to just swap the headlights between a Sport and a non-Sport. I don't yet actually have the two sitting next to each other, but I will in about a week; then I'll look everything over and try to figure it out. I do get it about maybe having to make some modifications to the non-Sport for the Sport bulbs; that makes sense.

I have the 99/01 sport headlights on my 96. You will need an add on harness or make one up for the added bulbs. I used a sawzall on the panel behind the lights to make room for acces to the added bulbs.
