Default Review 180degree NAPA t-stat..

so my truck gradually started running hotter and hotter until it was running around 210-220 consistently...if under alot of load slightly hotter....also it had very poor heat for running that hot. I wasn't sure to go with a hypertech tstat or a variety of other namebrand ones that cost 20bucks. I went with the napa 180 one with that and the gasket for 8 bucks. 20degrees out and the truck heats up to 160 and stays there. And now i have hotter heat than ever before. All in all well worth the 8 dollars.

I ran into the same issue, and went with the cheapo NAPA t-stat as well last summer, havent had a single issue since. No other impacts that I can tell, a good swap!

i'm confused.
your engine was running 210-220 and your heat sucked.
so why would a 180 t-stat pull the engine temp down to 160 ?
and why would the heat be better with a lower engine temp.

for your first question....the 195 thermostat was faulty cause it wouldnt open so it would shoot up hot.....the new one is a 180 but it goes right to 160 and stays there...idk? theres nothing wrong with that in my opinion so im happy. should be fun in the summer.

your second question..maybe the coolant wasnt circulating through the heater block properly...once again, i dont know....it doesnt make sense to me but i cant complain since both problems are fixed....possibly air in the coolant system before causing the heat issue?

Wouldnt having the stat open earlier causing the coolant to enter earlier making the engine cooler? Seems to make sense as a whole, thinking about it I find flaws in the logic but..seems kinda correct?
