I am looking to buy a 01 or newer Ram. I have heard that some of the Ram's had transmission troubles. I am new to dodges so i guess i need some help.

What years should i stay away from to avoid trans issues?

What should i look for good or bad when looking at a used Ram?

Like any used vehicle, check the fluids and for leaks. Have an independent shop check it out. The autos are not the best and alot of them go early due to overheating. If you can, look for a stick. Newer Rams have better autos. Check also for oil in the intake which would mean a leaking plenum gasket. And make sure it steers perfectly as you'll chase your tail fixing loose steering. Good luck. And do some searching on here for common problems.
