Unhappy Dana 60 swap questions..

I have a 2001 dodge ram 4x4 sport off road. I am putting a Dana 60 in front and rear. The front dana 60 is out of a 1996 2500. I am putting a CAD delete and manual hub conversion on it. I would like to go with the 00 brake set up but the 1996 knuckles are no built for the 00 two piston calipers. I did not know if i could just use 00 knuckles and they would fit the 96 axle. I know the ball joints and different part numbers. Just asking so i dont go and spend a ton of money and turn out it is not going to work..so if anyone can help id love to hear what you have to say.. Thanks

the axle housing as far as i know is the same for all years, so the different knuckles should work

Thats a good question. I would be just guessing to say that they are interchangeable (although I think they are). But, if the ball joints are different for the two knuckles then that might mean they aren't. Maybe you could go measure up one from a newer dodge in your area to get an idea?

Dang, sinking some money into the 60 with the hub conversion eh. What kit did you go with, EMS? 35 spline? Wish I could pull that off... I's envious.

Good luck with the swap. Post pics of progress

the ball joints may be different on just the knuckle side, so its possible that you could use the different knuckles, by using the correct ball joints

I was going to go with a dynatrac but then when looking at the ems kit its cheeper but uses the same parts..and yes im going with the 35 spine outters. Wish i could do 35 inners as well but maybe the next build i will. Chromoly shafts should stand up to all i can give it..haha

Gotcha. So like 95maroonmonster had stated, all you need to do then is buy the correct ball joints for the newer knuckles and it should work. Easy enough, except good luck finding a used set... and I bet they are a pretty penny new !
