Default Timing Chain Cover

My 95 Ram has the 360 in it and I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble with the timing chain cover corroding where the water passages go through it and developing a massive coolent leak. This happened to me 3 years ago and it has just happened again... I was just wondering if this is a common thing because I havnt really seen it mentioned on here.

I had that problem with my 98 Durango 360 4x4x. I had it in for inspection so I had them repair when it was there. Don't remeber the price of the repair off hand

it happens, there's been a few posts about it, but i don't think its a common problem. you might can get one from a junkyard

i can't understand why a nice heavy aluminum cast piece would corrode away, unless its just maybe where the aluminum was touching the steel, or pressure treated lumber or something. was your original one replaced, or just patched/welded?

The original was replaced and it had to be ordered from Dodge. All of the aftermarket ones would not fit. From Dodge the cover cost around $200. I cant believe it only lasted 3 years.

Sounds like an electrolytic problem. Are all of your engine-to-chassis grounds connected? I know I have two ground straps on my pass side and one on my driver's side.

^ i agree. they normally last forever unless you break it by prying, beating, bashing, or overtightening. check your ground straps on the accy bracket where the ps pump is, and make sure its not accidently moved to your tc cover or something.
