Thumbs down ****/volume on radio doesn't work

Hey all,
I just bought a 1998 1500 Laramie SLT with the factory am/fm/cassette/cd radio. It has a volume know that turns 360 degrees. The problem: it doesn't work. Can't control the volume up or down. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what is the fix?

I'd just go buy a new deck. Get a used one if you don't really have the money. And a dash kit thing which is like 10 bucks. I'm sure you can find a used deck that works for like, 20 bucks. Check on craigslist or something. People are always getting rid of them from when they upgrade. I've got like 3 in my garage somewhere. lol

My 1997 has the same problem. When very cold, the volume won't work or, when attempting to turn the volume down, will instead increase so much it will make your ears bleed. Continued turning will then result in no sound. One the radio is warmed, it behaves more like it should. I'm just going to replace it with something better with an iPod interface.
