Default Air Filter Housing Question (99 5.2L 1500 Ram PU)

I was changing the air filter on my '99 Ram PU today, and the 2 tabs on one side of the bottom housing broke off. It still has the 2 tabs on the other side, and snaps on with the front 3 latches. Does anybody know, or have an opinion, on whether or not these tabs do anything other than just align the top of the housing. I guess I'm just wondering if it's worth doing anything about it.

Nope don't worry about it. Mine had one tab broke when I bought it back in 01 and it works. As long as it still seals around the filter, you'll be fine. I bet we're the only ones left who still use the original air box!

Same here. Bought the KN dropin back in oh, I'd say 02 I guess. Anyway, still works great and definitely noticed throttle response over paper.

But yeah, been liking the look of the round, but only the Mopar black one that Silver uses. They're spendy. Thus its way down on my list.
