Glad it worked out for you. Do you know if the check valve was deleted or at least replaced with a new one? Because if it wasn't and you had metal shavings from the TC in the system, it could cause probs down the road, so to speak.

The check valve was replaced, lines flushed, and the factory cooler was bypassed with the one they installed. I asked the mechanic about removing the check valve and he did not like removing them. He said that he prefers to leave them in with this tranny. He feels it keeps better lubrication during startup.

Maybe so, but, if it fails there is no lubrication.

The rebuilder probably did a stock rebuild.

Every guy I talked to said to remove the checkball (is there for anti drainback) and redo the valvebody.

I did a transgo on a 700R4 years ago and they are nice. I'm looking forward to getting mine back with the transgo.

He did not do a stock rebuild.

I think it is like everything else. There are different opinions out there, for what is best. I see the benefits of the check valve, and I also see the potential risk of having it. I have not decided if I am going to keep it or remove it yet. In theory if you do all the upgrades to the tranny it should not be as prone to failure. If this is true then you should be less likely to have something clog the check valve. The question is does the benefits outweigh the risk? This is not an easy question to answer.

IMHO, there is no risk in removing the check valve.

I've looked around the forum and haven't been able find a definitive way to remove the check ball. Is it in the rubber line running from the trans cooler to the steel line? The lines that are bolted together?

Now I am worried that it will clog up so I am going to do away with it. I also put in a Transgo TFOD JR shift kit so that should take care of the TC drainback issues/worries with removing the check ball.
