Hey guys, I couldn't figure out the problem myself so I brought it to a shop and they diagnosed it as a bearing so I had the front wheel hub replaced.

It didn't help. Frustrating.

It only grinds when accelerating or maintaining slower speeds. Never while coasting. What could be grinding in the front end while accelerating?

Since the bearing is new I would go back to the brakes, replace them make sure that there is no crap stuck in there or the rotors and pads a gouged up. It could very well be at a point that it is only audiable at certain speeds.

Also, does replace the HUB actually replace the bearing? I know on my CJ5 they are seperate and can be replaced as such.

Yes the wheel hub is a big, sealed unit containing the bearing. I wish they were separate, it would've been much cheaper.

I am suspicious of the breaks and pads as well, but don't understand why it only happens when I'm accelerating.

That would explain why I only hear it when accelerating right? I think I need to bring it back in to the shop, its nice to have an idea of what I'm talking about before I go. Thanks for the suggestion!

Don't go in there saying cv joint, because that won't tell them you know what your talking about.

Is it doing this grinding in 2wd ?

Yup it does it in both 2 and 4wd. I'm puzzled. It only happens when the engine is under strain.

The front end is not under strain when in 2wd. So I'd say you have to check the rear diff, u joints on rear shaft, rear wheel bearings, rear brakes, or worse case, transfer case.

The noise comes from the front end, it almost sounds like its under the dash.

When was the last time you checked your front Diff oil?

It could be a resonation deal, i.e. only happens at a certain frequency under a certain load and speed. witch leads me back to the brakes.
