funny thing is.. this whole header thing started just because of a leak in my gasket. haha. i figure if im gonna do one side, i might as well do the other, and if im pulling both headers off i might as well put on something better then stock.... makes sense to me? hopefully the gf understands. haha

haha same here i have started a leak and i hate putting stock back on....The thing about true duals is 02 sensors...right now you have one in front of cat and one behind? (not sure on the 96) but if you have one in front..right now through the Y-pipe you are reading both sides of the engine...with true duals unless you have an 02 for each bank..then you are only reading one side and can effect air-fuel ratio....And just tell your gf that you truck is sick and headers are the meds it needs..lol

if you want to run true duals, its a really good idea to use a balance tube, be it an X-pipe or an H-pipe, its been proven time after time that a balance tube performs better in all applications

This is the same issue I've been wondering about with my '95 Dakota. I'm building a 5.9 for it. It's gonna be bored .030 over and get an aggressive cam and 1.7 roller rockers. I'd be slapping it in the face if I didn't set it up with true dual exhaust. I was thinking that if the engine is running as it should, only reading one bank wouldn't effect anything. In terms of the ratio, it should be the same ratio of air and fuel no matter how many cylinders you are reading. The problem that you would run into is if something fails in the bank you're not reading the computer would never know. Basically its just a trade off, you can either run true duals and hope nothing goes wrong, or you can keep the y-pipe in there and not worry about it. If ya'll figure out a way to get an o2 sensor on both banks and have the computer read them both I'd sure like to know!

I have been looking for headers for a year or so and i found a set for $140 that look pretty decent on ebay. I am hoping to buy them when i get my tax return. They should be a good buy if your on a tight budget like me. They are shorty headers and should bolt right up to stock system.

how aggressive a cam? Make sure you measure P/V clearance carefully and have your math straight if you're going to use 1.7 RR's with a cam.

you can run an o2 in one side only, any A/F problems would affect both banks anyway, not one side at a time.
