Default 1999 Dodge 1500

I have a neighbor who is having a problem getting his truck started. It will always start when cold, and will not start for at least 2 hours when hot. He has replaced the coil. Any ideas thanks.

+1 , and does it run until hot, or die when it get's hot. Or just won't restart after hot, when shut down normally?

Thanks for replying, The truck will start when cold and run all day until it runs out of gas. It is only if you turn it off when hot that you can not restart. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to cool off before it will restart.

hmm. electrical or fuel ?

test fuel pump pressure at the fuel rail when cold and hot. should be about 49 psi.
another test, when won't start, pour a little spoonful of gas or a squirt of starting fluid down the tb.

if its not fuel, the fastest way to fix it is to attach a scanner. it will read all the sensors and find the culprit quick.

Try this:

https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...ttle-body.html

I had that problem once and it turned out that the IAC port was so dirty that when the metal in the TB expanded upon heating up, the port got choked closed.

It can't hurt to try.

Default not 1999, it is a 1997

I was just informed that this truck is not a 1999 but a 1997. I don't know if it matters or not but forwarded all of your info to him. Thanks
