Question lift 3in. or 5.5in.

just looking at lifts i can build a 3in. lift for about $750. i am looking at 5.5in. lifts and just wondering do you have to do exhaust modifications with that much lift? and what all else do you have to have other than coils shocks and add a leaf and/or blocks? my plans for the truck are to pay it off and get somthing else and have this as a toy/hunting truck. before i was gonna just do 3in. after thinking it over i would have to change the whole suspension at a later date so that would be money well wasted! so i have almost desided on doing a 5.5in. lift that way i only do the lift 1 time. just need to know what all a 5.5in. lift requires. thank you!

I have never heard of anyone doing exhaust mods with a suspension lift, maybe with a body lift, just to reposition the tailpipe closer to the body.

im pretty sure a 5.5" requires a pitman arm, trackbar or relocater, coils, control arms, leaf springs or blocks and shocks. I cant think of anything else you would have to get.

yea now that you mention it i think it was a new leaf spring pack i just don't know i can go with a much better 3in. kit for less and just keep the 33in. tires and flex all i want. it just costs allot for the 5in kits. then 33's look funny and then 35 won't flex as far and cost more. i just don't know a 3in on our trucks with a leveling kit is almost like a 6in. on a chevy. correct?

with my 2.5 in lift in front and 1.5 in the rear and 285's I sit less than an inch lower than a chevy with 6 inches and 35's, and I sit even with titans with 5.5 and 35's. A friend of mine has a titan with that setup and I was laughing about how my truck sits even with his even though I have a small amount of lift and he has all that money on his lift. And even better, his doesnt flex as well as mine haha, I can actually travel over things better than he can.

do you have to worry about the pinion angle with a 5in on our trucks?

well, a block kit might include a shimmed block, but im not sure. Whenver you change ride height, you should always restore the correct pinion angle... but how necessary is it? im not sure.

Do you have any rubbing issues with this combo? I ask because I've read that the off road
package 1500 sits at the same height as the 2500 and I have been thinking seriously about
running 35's the next time I need tires.
