Default Heater core

I can't for the life of me figure out what is still holding the heater/fan assembly to the cab. I have removed the entire dash piece and all the bolts on the engine bay as well as the two bolts on the assembly one has that wire string that goes over the heater core and the one on the far right that is a nut facing down, but the thing hasn't budged any ideas?

Are you sure you got all the bolts from under the hood against the firewall? I cant remember how many there were to tell ya, but that may be the problem. Good luck with it... I hope I don't have to do it again for a LOOOOONG time.

Also on the steering gear should the nut push the pitman arm all the way up snug to the gear or should you be able to see a gap between the steeing gear and the pitman arm, b/c I cant get the nut to move up any further but you can still see the downward teeth on the gear about an inch or two.....

IIRC it does have a pretty good space . Wait a minute, an inch or two? Is the nut all the way on the threads of the shaft?

There's a bolt behind the ECM on the firewall, did you get that one?

on mine, 97 2500 with a 360, i had the one behind the ecm, and there are i think 2 or 3 bolts lower on the fire wall toward the bell housing, and there are 2, 10mm's on the inside toward the passenger side of the box. good luck, you will need it, mine was a huge pain

If I recall, I was able to just pull the dash out as far as needed and then disconnect the heater hoses and the clip on top holding the core to the box. Once those were disconnected I just slid the core right out of the top of the heater/ac box.

Yep, just leaning the dash back until it hits the steering wheel (when unbolted and laying against the drivers seat) should be adequate enough room, it was for me anyway. I also removed the passenger side air bag for a little extra viewing/hand room.

Also, my heater core WOULD NOT come out until I disconnected the AC lines. Sucked, but it had to be done to slide it out.

On mine I just unscrewed the 1 screw holding down the heater core lines and disconnected the lines and wiggled quite a bit until it came out. As I recall though it was a royal PITA to get out the way I did it, but I didn't want to go through the hastle of un bolting a bunch of $h!t just to get to it.
