Default Time For A Tune Up?

Ok, my truck is a 2001 QCSB 5.2L 4x4. I bought it a year ago with 76,000 miles on it, and the current mileage is 89,000. I'm not sure that the truck has ever had the plugs, wires, ect replaced, the wires say Mopar on them, so I think unless it was done at a dealer, they are probably original? Now, the truck fires right up even on cold mornings (0-10F), and runs fine. My only 2 issues are: the truck feels very sluggish. I realize that running 285/75/16 tires with 3:55 gears is going to rob me of power, but it still feels like there should be more power. My '99 with the same engine and gears and 265/75/16 size tires seemed like it had more power.
Also, I'm getting 10mpg if I'm lucky. This is with about 70% highway driving. Now, I didnt buy a full size truck for fuel economy, but I hear people saying 10mpg with their 2500 5.9's and V10's. My '99 got about 13-14 in the same conditions. Unfortunatly, it had a lot of problems, and was getting very unreliable, so I bought this '01, and she hasn't let me down yet. But, it's like I have a truck with no ***** and sucking down gas like there's no tomorrow Also, the oil and filter is changed every 2500-3000 miles, and I change the air filter every other oil change.
So, I'm interested in hearing everyone's opinion. Would a healthy tune up (plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, pvc valve) maybe give me a little extra power and a mile per gallon or 2? If you got this far, thanks for reading, and any advice would be very much appreciated!

A tune up might do wonders, but you should check the plenum (http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2000/09-05-00.htm) and have the cat checked out, before you have bigger probs.

x2 on tune-up. Cheap and can't hurt. Also, you might have the deathflash.
