I found out why my truck has no CEL's
Well, some of you may have read in other posts that I removed my cat and didn't get a CEL. And now, come to think of it, I don't remember when the last time I had one is. Well, I think I found out why. I was curious so I put my key in and turned the ignition to on (so it would flash my dash lights) and here's what I found! Correct me if i'm wrong, but the "Check Engine" light should have flashed too. Right? So now i'm on my way to AutoZone to get the codes read to see if it is throwing anything and the bulb is just burnt out (I still haven't gotten around to getting a scanner). Kinda funny, but kinda not!
That's what I thought. Everyone in the other posts was amazed that my CEL never came on when I took my cat out. Then I got to thinking about it and I can't remember the last time it came on.
Great, I'll probably go get the codes checked and come back with a 3 page post of stuff i've gotta fix.
Maybe ignorance is bliss and I just won't get it checked! (Just kidding guys)

On my 2001 1500 318, I test my dash by pushing in on the trip, and holding it in while I turn the key to on, not start, that seems to work well, some people probably didnt know that.

So I stopped at AutoZone today after work and here's what I found out:
1) Yes, my CEL is burnt out
2) Yes, removing your cat WILL throw a CEL (You just can't see it if the light is burnt out)
3) The governor pressure sensor and solenoid in the 46RE trans ARE prone to failure and mine is no exclusion.
So now I get to:
1) Tear my dash apart to replace a stupid light bulb so I don't have to go to AutoZone all the time to see if there are codes.
2) Test out the non-fowler trick to shut the O2 Sensor code off.
3) Drop my trans pan AGAIN to replace the governor pressure sensor and solenoid. (Hmm, this explains why my trans has been slipping/hesitant shifting into 2nd every once in a while when lightly using the pedal).
Just thought you all would like an update!
