Default Good deal for suede?

I went to the local upholstery shop lookin for some suede to cover my headliner. I've been wanting to do a black suede headliner to replace the ugly tan headliner I have now.

ANyway, the guy wanted $28 a yard for the suede. He told me, for $30 a visor, he'd cover them, and for another $30 ea, he'd cover my door panel armrests.

I'm planning on doing the headliner myself, I just need a donor, just in case I mess up.

Anyway,
28*3= $84
Visors= $60
Visors and headliner = $144
+ armrests @ $60 = $204

I'm thinking I'll have him do the visors, and I'll do the headliner and armrests myself. Are his rates decent, or do you think I should find someone else?

The job is worth exactly what you're willing to pay for it. I, personally, wouldn't pay a penny to do a job like this. But, all I ever care about is functionality. That's why I'll never pay to have my dash fixed (crack).

Well visors I cant do, but the headliner and the armrests I can do. Main thing I'm lookin at is the price of the material.

Im kinda tryin to slowly build up to near show quality, so I'm tryin to do the little things like this to finish up. Anyway, I plan on callin up a couple of other upholstery shops, but I dont wanna have to drive up to Houston to get it done

you might not like what im gonna say here.. but this is just my opinion.. a 4x4 truck shouldnt be a show peice.. it should be driven and on the roads and on the trails. it should be used as a truck. and again my opinion.. suede doesnt belong in a truck.. but you do what you want.. its your beast

I think a suede interior would be sweet in a show truck. Would you be doing any actual shows? If so ... should you really be driving it?

Thats not a bad price. We had fabric at my old job that cost more then that a yard. I'd still call around a bit though. Just see what others have to offer

Well Im lookin for near show quality. And yea it's 2wd, Im just wearing down the all-terrains that I bought the truck with, until I can buy some new rims and tires

No matter what, I'm gonna drive it. I just want to do what I want to the truck and enjoy it, and if I ever feel its finished enough and it still looks good enough, I'll show it.
