aftermarket control arms with 2.5" spacer

Default aftermarket control arms with 2.5" spacer

Is anyone using aftermarket control arms with a 2.5" leveling spacer. I want to build a set to relocate the frontend back to the center of the wheelwell (its eating away at me from the inside out). if anyone has them, can you take some measurments for me, i just need the length center to center (of the bolt hole)

Why not just locate the axle where you want it (centered) and measure for them?

You could just get the measurements of the control arms from a 3" suspension kit for your truck (call that certain company, they should be able to tell you the lengths), but I know that most control arms for 3" half ton lifts are almost identical in length as the stockers (actually, I believe Silver stated that his lowers were just a smidgen longer and the uppers were actually a smidgen shorter ).

ya, i thought of that, but im not sure of the differance in length for the top and bottom to compensate for caster. i dont want to make either too long or too short because i eyballed it wrong, elaborate, if you have some ideas i could probobly pull it off.

I can physically see the front tires sit about 1.5" too far toward the rear, but that doesnt mean i can just make all four control arms 1.5" longer, i want to get it right. how much adjustment is there in the accetric on the front mounts?

I don't know how much adjustment is in those bolts, but it cant be that much.



Give Don a call at Thuren Fabrication or send him an email about what length he suggests. He is a master at fabrication and really knows his stuff about the Dodges, 2nd and 3rd gen. I was looking at his "stock" replacement control arms (which look phenomenal, although are quite expensive), and he actually makes the 3rd gen ones a half inch longer than the stockers for extra tire clearance. I have seen his stuff before, but those controlarms are very expensive, hes using Ballistic joints

You have a point though, i could get the dimentions and build them myself with ballistic joints from ballistics site. good call!

I wonder if there would be a market for these comtrol arms for levelling kits? i maight be able to put them together pretty cheap

Yeah, sounds like a good idea to me. Slap a set together for a 3" lift on a half ton and send them my way. I will be the test mule.

I think you could get a set of replacements for that size for probably a decent price if you check around. Anyway, I have the measurements at home somewhere. I'll have to find them again.
And Silver was right. It's within 5/8ths if I'm not mistaken.
I would really like a 3" long arm kit.

ya alongarm kit would be cool.

The skyjacker 7" and 9" kit comes with a new trans x-member for mounting the lower bars, correct? i wonder if you can buy that seperate and build some bars to fit a 3" kit, that would be badass

If you want long arms, why cant you just purchase the Extreme suspensions long arm kit (true long arm kit, 4 ft. long uppers and lowers) or the Pure Performance kit (two longer arms that tie into the same point on the frame) and make them work with 3" of lift? Both are made for 6+-" of lift, but it seams all that would have to be done is move the frame mount further rearward on the frame so it would not shove the axle so far forward.


Some say the Extreme Suspensions kit wont work with 3" of lift because the upper link will hit the body mount, but I have never seen anybody prove it. It seams to me that the 6" springs can stuff the axle/tire just as much as a set of 3" springs, therefor there shouldnt be any problem.


The extreme suspensions long arm kit has polly bushings on all ends, and one cab mount on each side has to be notched for clearance. But from what I have heard it makes our trucks ride like a caddy. I have also heard that with heavy trail use (skidding the lower arm across rocks) can bend the lower links. http://www.extremesuspensions.com/st...age=1&featured

I like it when people have simple, straight up answers, thanks. im trying to find as many of these sites for custom fab lifts and accessories, i seem to like their stuff better than the common skyjacker or fabtech stuff. although buying just isnt as fun as building, lol
