Only one hose at time will have vacuum. One when in 2wd and the other one when in 4wd. If you have vacuum at the steel lines , then the hose from there to the axle is no good. DO you have a vacuum gauge?

No vacuum gauge. I sprayed air through the lines from the axle to the metal lines and air goes through. I'll replace the hoses and see if that fixes it.

I assume you disconnected the hoses from the opposite end of the steel lines before you blew the air through?

Blowing air through will only determine that the lines are clear ... not that they're leaking. You have a built-in vacuum pump ... plug one end with your finger and suck on the other end ... if your finger doesn't stick, you've got a leak.

If that grosses you out ... can't help you.

I replaced the metal lines from the trans mount up to the motor on the axle. I now have vacuum at the motor on the axle, but still no 4wd. No light either. The vacuum changes from one hose to the other when going from 2wd to 4wd.

All that's left is the diaphram or "motor" ... that's what actually pulls the collar (via the fork) over the the axle shaft to engage 4wd. You can pull the assembly and see if the fork moves when you engage 4wd. If not, torn diaphram.

6 inches of snow isn't a horrible amount. In fact, I have more fun in two wheel drive than 4wd haha. But I understand where you're coming from. I'm from Spokane WA and we got hammered this year again getting like around 90 inches in a month or a little more. There were drifts taller than my truck and days when I couldn't even move my truck even with four wheel drive. As far a your 4wd drive goes, hope you get it figured out soon. I have no clue what it could be. Good luck buddy!

If you have vacuum at the 2 hoses going into the shift motor, then as TMS said, the shift motor is bad. Get one of these and eliminate the problem completely
