Default 410 gear ratio

I have a 96 ram 4x4 and want to change the gear ratio to 410. I have the ring and pinion for the rear, and am still looking for the parts for the front. Will the 410 fit on my truck, or will it require extensive modifications?

It should fit no problem once you get a set for the front, but you will need different carriers IIRC. The most our 3.55 carriers do is 3.92, I believe.

It's going to depend on what kind of carrier your want. If it's just an open carrier like you have now, you can score a pretty good deal from people selling them. I got mine from somebody on pavementsucks.com. Got it for $55. But if you want to go an extra step, you can buy a limited slip differential which can go from $300-600 on average.

For the front you can get a thick gear. Which is available at Randy's , among other places.

yes, find out what your current ratio is before you start, like these guys said, you may have to use thick gears or get a new carrier, or, you may already have the proper stuff.

im pretty sure the carriers are 3.73 and down and 3.92 and up
