Default ticking noise from front end?

I've got a weird like clinking noise from the front end, i believe that it sounds like its a u joint going out. It only makes the noise when its in 4 wd so i thought it was the u joints of the front drive shaft....could it be the u joints at the knuckles because after replacing the u joints of the drive shaft, it made no difference., the noise is still there...
thanks

mine did that on the front axle, but i'm not sure if its the same on yours. Mine was so dry and rusted that there was no grease in mine. the needles fell apart when i took the caps off.

Definitely sounds like an axle joint.had the same noise a couple months ago. Replaced it and noise went away. Driver side I bet. Of course after replacing it, and taking my time cleaning the axle end and the diff tube, now my seal is leaking again, unreal. Don't wait to fix it, the seal is going bad as we speak.
