Yea they are, but the older dodges were just programmed that way from the factory. More than likely, you never knew it, because there was never an instance where you went to the dealer with less HP than what you came in with.

If you want power a cam is a step in the right direction. Have you looked into replacing
the heads? Everything is going to be dependent on where you want to go with this
vehicle. Do you want an all out street truck? add power while retaining bottom end?
a tow/haul vehicle? etc. That needs to be your first decision because every fallowing
action should follow your intentions. For example: You wouldn't want to buy a bottom end
cam only to install an M1 intake at a later date.
