2000 ram 1500 shocks and springs
Just bought my first truck a couple of weeks ago. 2000 Ram 1500 off road package reg cab short box with 33x12.50r17 nitto mud grapplers. The truck has 190,000 miles, almost all highway. The complete front end has been rebuilt and the only thing left is shocks and springs. I would like to level the front and was wondering what is the best way, springs that add 2in or or spacers? Is this hard on anything whatsoever? What shocks should i run wether i level it or not. Again, i dont want to do anything that is hard on the truck, just like to replace these parts with somthing better and add a little performace. Oh yea, it will be going off road! Thanks for the help guys
If you don't mind spending a little extra cash, I would suggest purchasing leveling springs (2") instead of just spacers. But that will most likely require purchasing 3" lift springs, as your springs are already 1.5" taller or so from the factory (and they don't sell lift spring specifically for the off road that I know of).
Same goes for the shocks... Bilsteins are very nice, but more on the pricey side than anything else.

I guess i dont want to do a whole lot to the truck like adding leafs and what not. i was hoping to just level it and add new shocks. From what ive read the off road package is about the hardest to do. Do they make anything to get me an inch in the front? I just dont want to have to change a bunch of stuff or throw anything out of whack in the process. Any help is greatfull.
My brother installed 2" spacers on the front of his off road ram and it leveled it perfectly. I personally don't feel it is "too much" for the off road suspension. The truck has been running that setup for 160k miles without any problems. He didn't do anything to the rear and it leveled it off nicely.
Just get some spacers and new shock and call it a day (actually just a few hours).
