Default Delay in shift 2nd to 3rd when cold. 99 RAM 2500

Any ideas whats going on here? When I first start out driving this truck during the day I notice a delay in shifting under any type of acceleration. It won't shift into 3rd gear till the RPM's are around 3300 RPM. Once the truck warms up it shifts fine. Does not feel like a slip and the other shifts feel fine as well as the torque converter locking.1999 Dodge RAM 2500 5.9L V8 4X4 154,000 miles

Have you done any trans service lately? If not then I would def. change the fluid and filter and adjust the bands. If it is still acting up then I would suggest replacing the goernor pressure sensor and solenoid (Or go ahead and do it while your in the trans pan anyways).

Are you throwing any codes? Mine threw something like a "governor pressure =3psi in park" when it is actually supposed to be 0psi (according to the diagnostics that is).

No codes unless the trans uses a special code reader in the OBD II. I just bought the truck so have no idea when it was last serviced. Fluid looks pretty dark and the pan looks dirty enough that it has not been pulled off in a really long time. Probly would be a good idea to get it done. Any idea where I can find instructions on adjusting the bands?

If you do a search on this forum or look in the DIY section and there are plenty of instructions and tips. I would refer to the DIY section first though.
